Ruby on Rails Developer

We're looking for an experienced Ruby on Rails developer to help us take our products to the next level.

Let me introduce us

We're a small startup based in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. We build applications for mobile devices and the web. We help more than 1.000 professional customers manage their businesses. We make planning and invoicing trivial so that our users can focus on what they do best.

We are looking to expand our development team over the next year, so you'll be an essential part of our small team with plenty of room for your own input.

Who are we looking for?

You like building ambitious web applications. You're not afraid to work with both back-end and front-end technologies like Ruby and JavaScript. You enjoy the variety of full-stack development.

Because we're such a small team, no one has a predefined role. We're all working to improve our products in meaningful ways. You will be able to take an idea and develop it from start to finish.

We like working remotely and use tools like Basecamp and Slack for project management and communication. Everyone is a manager of one. We don't do daily check-ins. You determine what needs to get done and you make sure it does.

Your profile

  • 2+ years experience with Ruby on Rails
  • Good knowledge of HTML and CSS
  • Proficient in collaborative development using git
  • Excellent in either Dutch or English

We would love if you

  • Have experience working with Turbolinks-based mobile apps
  • Have worked with external API's
  • Have tried a couple of front-end JavaScript-frameworks like Vue.js or React
  • Have insight into handling server setup and deployment. We're fans of Heroku

Our stack

Our apps are all based on Ruby on Rails (5+). We prefer The Majestic Monolith over microservices. We use Vue.js when JavaScript sprinkles won't suffice. Our mobile apps are built using a combination of Turbolinks and Swift/Java. We mostly use PostgreSQL as our primary database.

What we offer

We have a relaxed work environment, flexible work hours and a flat hierarchy. We strongly believe it should be fun to go to work.

If you're interested in our position, get in touch and tell us why you're a good fit for us. Show us what you've been working on and share your thoughts. We'd love to hear from you.

We ❤️ open source

We take pride in developing an open source CMS: Spina. It's the basis for most of our work and it allows us to participate in the open source community. It powers our websites, webshops, apps and even an iOS-based Point of Sale system!
